Hypnotherapy is a branch of holistic psychotherapy that takes place while in an altered state of trance. Our ability to enter this state of consciousness opens the door to countless possibilities for change, mental breakthroughs, profound therapeutic healing outcomes, inner self-exploration, and personal transformation.
Hypnosis is the bypass of the critical factor of the conscious mind and the establishment of acceptable selective thinking. Hypnosis is a natural state of selective focused attention. The working state of Hypnosis is called somnambulism, this occurs when the conscious mind recedes into the back ground and the subconscious mind comes into the foreground and takes over executive function.
In this natural state we are able learn faster, and rearrange the mental furniture of the mind, allowing problem solving, the dissolving of mental blocks, facilitating breakthroughs and resolutions on a mental, physical and emotional level.
Individual sessions range anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes in duration. After discussing the problem and taking your history, the process of hypnosis is thoroughly explained and what to expect in the session is outlined. If you are new to hypnotherapy this includes addressing the myths and misconceptions that have surrounded hypnotism in the past. Only when a client fully understands and is comfortable with the process and has had all their questions answered, does the formalized trance portion of the session begin. Each session is unique and is structured around a clients particular requirements and needs.
Hypnotism has been described as a curious detached parallel awareness, you may feel a comfortable feeling of heaviness, as if sinking into the chair, or a dissociated feeling as though you are dissociated from your body, like floating on a cloud. Or you may not feel anything at all as there is no one hypnotized feeling, that defines hypnosis.
Hypnosis is the art of suggestion, by using a combination of guided imagery and visualization, clients are coached how to relax and transition through a liminal relaxed state into hypnosis, this is referred to as "The Induction". This can be done fast or slow, and will depend upon each individual. The methods and means of inducing hypnosis are many and varied, with new methods ever evolving.
Hypnotherapy is effective for many psychogenic issues:
